With the recent unveiling of the Michelin Guide Québec 2026, the province's status as an exciting culinary destination received a healthy boost. Four restaurants have earned a Michelin star for the first time, joining the eight venues retaining that honour from last year's inaugural edition of the guide.
Auberge Saint-Mathieu, located near the La Mauricie National Park, was awarded a green star in last year's guide for its local sourcing and sustainable approach. That recognition is now complemented by a first Michelin star for chef Samy Benabed's exquisite locavore menu.
Next on the list of new one-star venues is Montreal's Hoogan et Beaufort, praised in the guide for the creative wood-fired cuisine of chef Marc-André Jetté, and for its standout wine list and warm, attentive service.
Also among the newly awarded restaurants is Le Clan in Old Québec, where the Michelin inspectors appreciated the fish, game and red meat dishes featured in chef Stéphane Modat's northern-inspired tasting menu.
Completing the four new entries is Sushi Nishinokaze, the minimalist Montreal sushi counter where chef Vincent Gee's respectful take on Edomae tradition combines Japanese-sourced fish with top Canadian ingredients.
These new awards take the province's total number of Michelin-starred restaurants to 13, Quebec City's renowned Tanière3 remaining – for now – the province's sole two-star restaurant.
In addition, Quebec now boasts five restaurants awarded green star status for their mindful gastronomy, with three new names this year: Coteau in Québec City, Huit 100 Vingt in Saint-Ambroise-de-Kildare and Les Mal-Aimés in Cookshire-Eaton.
The new guide also includes seven new Bib Gourmand gongs, denoting high-quality offerings at good-value prices. That brings the total in the category to 23, confirming what we already knew: namely that – throughout the province – great dining truly is accessible to all.
